Childers is fast becoming a tourist Mecca.  And it’s not just because of its heritage-listed main street.

So after your round of golf why not pop around to one of the three local wineries, or perhaps drop into Mamminos for the best home made ice cream this side of the border. 

If you are after a culinary treat, or something to give to the folks back home, then Sticky Beaks Exotic Jam Factory at Apple Tree Creek could be the place for you.

If you like animals, then Snakes Down Under or the Flying High Bird Sanctuary are both popular with families..

Similarly, Bakers Military Museum, the Pharmaceutical Museum, the Communications Museum, the Historical Complex and the Palace Art Gallery are all well worth a visit.

There are three local wineries, Hill of Promise, Stanton Estate and Childers Winery. Chiders winery is the newest and features wines made from locally-grown jaboticabas.  Wonbah Estate at Mount Perry is less than an hour’s drive away and well worth the visit.

If your partner needs some retail therapy and you decide to visit Bundaberg, take your clubs and hit a few balls at the Bundaberg Driving Range.
