Where to Shop in the Isis District

Whilst the range of retail outlets in Childers & Woodgate is limited, nevertheless travellers will have little trouble finding what they need.  In most cases you have a choice of two outlets, so if you can’t find it in the first shop, you can usually get it at the other.

Most of the shops are located in Churchill Street, the main street of Childers, and are within easy walking distance of the hotels and motels.  Several shops are located in a small shopping centre on the northern outskirts of town.

Most of the shops in Woodgate are located in a small centre in Frizzels Rd, just on the left as you come into town.  The rest are located on the Esplanade.

And if you are really desperate for a dose of retail therapy you can always head up to Bundaberg.

There are two supermarkets, Foodworks in Churchill Street, and Woolworths just outside of town. 

 

There is a small Food Market at Woodgate.

 

There is one chemist shop, one newsagent, and one shoe store all in Churchill Street.

 

There is also a chemist shop at Woodgate.

 

There are two tyre and battery outlets, both in Churchill Street.

 

There are two hardware stores, two variety stores, one video store and one electrical appliances store, all in Churchill Street. There is a Hardware store at woodgate.

 

Similarly, there are two butcher shops and two bakeries, all in Churchill Street.

 

There are branches of the Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank, and NAB all in Churchill Street.  Only the Commonwealth has an out of hours ATM machine.  The Isis Club in Churchill St also has an ATM Machine

 

There are two ladies hairdressers, one men’s barber and one health & beauty salon.

 

The Childers Laundromat is located at the northern end of Churchill Street—but you need to take your own coins as no change is available onsite.

 

There is a Laundromat behind the general store at Woodgate Beach which has industrial size washers and dryers, good for those big items.
